Biography
Matthew A. Porter is a Partner in the Boston office of Jackson Lewis LLP, where he concentrates his practice exclusively on employment litigation and counseling. He routinely advises employers on a wide variety of employment law issues, including allegations of unlawful discrimination, employee discipline and discharge, disability management, reductions in force, non-competition agreements, and litigation under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act. Mr. Porter also has extensive class action experience.
Mr. Porter has substantial trial experience, and appears frequently in state and federal courts in employment-related litigation. He also defends employers in administrative proceedings at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, and other state human rights agencies. Mr. Porter is a member of the Bar of the federal and state courts in Massachusetts, and has also litigated extensively in many different state and federal courts throughout the United States. Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Mr. Porter was a partner with the prominent international law firm Dechert LLP.
Mr. Porter is a graduate of Boston University School of Law (J.D. 1995, magna cum laude) and the University of Massachusetts (B.A. 1990). While at Boston University, he was elected Executive Editor of the Boston University Law Review and received numerous awards for outstanding academic achievement.
